How Pátron Tequila became the perfect collectible

Patrón wanted to stand out in international markets, but how can a campaign that can elevate them even higher than their top-shelf status be flexible enough to be sold anywhere, understood by any language, and seize the attention of any consumers walking by?

Make them a collectible.

For various themes, countries, and holidays, we worked with artists local to that area, to create a piece of art to be used as our packaging. Wanting them to feel extra-premium, we used stamped tin for the boxes instead of their regular cardboard substrate. And finally, making them limited edition added to the collectibility of packaging.

Their ROI was insane.

Every country became sold out: Australia, Brazil, Israel. And every Holiday was nabbed from the shelves in weeks: Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year. Some even tried capitalizing on the trend and successfully sold their empty art tins on ebay…for as much as they bought the actual bottle. Turns out, people love hand-crafted art as much as they love hand-crafted tequila.
